Baloch Woman Detained and Disappeared in Hub
Pakistani security forces have reportedly detained and forcibly disappeared another Baloch woman in the industrial city of Hub Chowki. The woman, Fatima, wife of Noroz Islam and a resident of Panjgur, was taken from her home in Akram Colony without any official notice or explanation. Her current whereabouts remain unknown, raising serious concerns about the increasing prevalence of enforced disappearances targeting women in Balochistan.
Local sources indicate that Fatima was apprehended by security personnel and transferred to an undisclosed location. Her family members have expressed deep distress over her disappearance, especially given their previous experiences with enforced disappearances. Noroz Islam, her husband, has reportedly been subjected to enforced disappearance on three separate occasions, highlighting the ongoing trauma and psychological pressure faced by the family.
This incident is part of a disturbing pattern of similar cases reported in the Hub area over recent months. In late 2025, two women, Nasreena Baloch from Awaran and Hajra, were also allegedly disappeared by Pakistani forces from Hub Chowki. Like Fatima’s case, their disappearances remain unresolved, with their families still awaiting any information about their loved ones’ fate or location.
The latest disappearance occurs amidst alarming findings documented in a recent report by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC). The report details the enforced disappearance of at least 12 Baloch women and girls across various districts of Balochistan during 2025. It emphasizes that these cases are part of a broader, systematic pattern rather than isolated incidents, raising serious concerns about the use of enforced disappearances as a form of collective punishment.
Human rights activists have raised alarm over the escalating trend of detaining women, including wives and female relatives of men who have previously disappeared. They condemn the practice of arresting individuals without warrants, formal charges, or acknowledgment by authorities. These developments highlight the increasingly dangerous tactics employed by security forces, further intensifying fears of ongoing human rights violations in the region.
