Baloch Women Forum denounces repression of activists and civilians

The Baloch Women Forum (BWF) has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing crackdown on Baloch activists and civilians, denouncing the illegal detentions, raids, and enforced disappearances as a form of state suppression. The forum has called for an immediate cessation of these unconstitutional practices.

In a recent statement, the Baloch Women Forum reported the unlawful detention of prominent activist Saeeda Baloch, along with several other Baloch women, at a civil hospital by Pakistani law enforcement officials. Moreover, security forces raided the home of Bebagr Baloch, a central member of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), in the early hours, taking him and his younger brother, Dr. Hammal Zehri a PhD scholar into custody without any legal grounds.

The BWF expressed concern over the latest wave of arrests, particularly regarding the targeting of professionals and students. They highlighted an incident in which Dr. Ilyas Baloch, Vice Principal of Bolan Medical College, and his family became victims of a raid that led to both his and his son’s enforced disappearance. Additionally, students residing in hostels have experienced identity checks and harassment during nighttime raids, contributing to a climate of fear and uncertainty among the youth.

“The state’s brutal policies will only lead to chaos and unrest in society,” stated the BWF. The forum has demanded the immediate release of those forcibly detained and called for an end to the persecution of Baloch civilians and activists.

The BWF emphasized that such actions indicate the state’s intention to further stifle Baloch voices and disrupt peaceful human rights movements. They have urged authorities to put an end to these violations and respect the rights of the Baloch people.
