Operation Herof 2.0: BLA Claims Coordinated Attacks Across Balochistan

QUETTA: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated attacks carried out across multiple districts of Balochistan on 31 January 2026, describing the campaign as the second phase of Operation Herof.

In a statement attributed to the organization, the BLA said its fighters launched simultaneous attacks on military and security installations in several cities, including Quetta, Mastung, Dalbandin, Kalat, Gwadar, Pasni, Tump, and Noshki. The group claimed that its fighters engaged in direct clashes with Pakistani security forces and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) at multiple locations.

According to the BLA, the operation involved fighters from its Majeed Brigade, STOS, and intelligence wing ZIRAB, describing it as one of the largest coordinated military operations conducted by the organization to date.

The group further alleged that its fighters temporarily gained control of areas in twelve cities, targeted military camps and security installations, and established checkpoints along sections of the Coastal Highway and the Karachi–Quetta Highway during the operation.

The statement also claimed that several police stations and military facilities were attacked, weapons and ammunition were seized, and military personnel were detained during the clashes. Among the locations mentioned by the organization were the Red Zone in Quetta, military installations in Noshki, Gwadar, Pasni, Dalbandin, Kalat, and the Pullabad and Rodban areas of Tump.

The BLA also stated that women participated directly in combat during the operation, describing it as a first in the organization's armed campaign.

Pakistani authorities have previously stated that security forces continue to conduct operations against militant groups operating in Balochistan. Official responses regarding the specific claims made by the BLA about Operation Herof 2.0 have varied over time, and many of the details released by the organization have not been independently verified.

As the situation continues to evolve, further information is expected from official sources and independent observers regarding the full scope and impact of the reported operation.
