The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for an attack targeting a centre associated with Shafiq Mengal, whom the group describes as the leader of a "death squad" operating in Balochistan.
In a statement released by BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch, the group said the operation was carried out by its Majeed Brigade. According to the statement, the attack began with a vehicle-borne explosive device, after which armed members of the unit entered the compound.
The BLA claimed that more than 20 armed members affiliated with Shafiq Mengal were killed during the operation. The group further described Shafiq Mengal as a "traitor" and stated that it would release additional details about the attack in the near future.
At the time of publication, Aajoi News has not independently verified the casualty figures or the claims made by the BLA. There has also been no official statement from Pakistani authorities confirming or responding to the reported attack.
The incident comes amid continuing violence in Balochistan, where armed attacks, military operations, and security-related incidents have intensified in recent months. Conflicting claims are common, and independent verification is often difficult due to limited access to affected areas.
