Four Pakistani soldiers killed during clashes with armed groups in Mastung
A violent incident occurred in Mastung district of Balochistan on Monday, involving a deadly assault that resulted in casualties and the temporary capture of police stations and key routes. The clashes reportedly caused significant disruption in the area, with armed groups targeting security forces and infrastructure.
According to officials, four army personnel lost their lives during intense clashes with Baloch armed groups in the Kardegap area of Mastung. Local sources, however, suggested that the death toll could be higher, indicating that the situation may have caused additional casualties not yet officially confirmed.
The fallen soldiers have been identified as Naik Farzand Ali, Sepoy Babar Ali, Sepoy Binyamin, and Sepoy Abu Bakar. All of them were previously associated with the 40th Frontier Force (40 FF), and their deaths have deeply impacted the security forces operating in the region.
The security situation in Mastung remains highly tense, with reports of multiple blockades established by armed groups earlier in the day. Pakistani forces reportedly came under coordinated attacks, with several vehicles being hit during the violence, escalating the chaos across the district.
A significant military convoy consisting of 35 vehicles was targeted during the clashes, leading to heavy exchanges of fire that lasted several hours. Helicopters were deployed in the area to conduct aerial patrols as security personnel worked to regain control and restore order.
Additionally, reports indicated that a police station was temporarily seized by the armed groups and set ablaze. In response, security authorities imposed strict movement restrictions and set up checkpoints throughout Mastung to prevent further violence. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and officials have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel as the situation remains fluid.
